🗳️ 2026 OPEIU Local 32 Executive Board Election 🗳️
Local 32 members will elect our Officers, Trustees, and Executive Board at our May 2026 General Membership Meeting. The Executive Board is the highest deliberative body of the Local Union outside of General Membership Meetings so this election is vital to the future of Local 32!

The Local 32 Executive Board is the highest deliberative body in our local union outside of General Membership Meetings. The Officers, Board Members, and Trustees that sit on the board are Local 32 union members who are elected every three years by the membership. They are responsible for guiding the direction of our local, overseeing finances, and representing members in the decision-making process of the local. The Executive Board meets roughly once per month, usually at the Local 32 office in Wall, New Jersey.

Officers and Trustees will be voted upon by any Local 32 member in good standing at our May 2026 General Membership Meeting. Nominations for these positions will occur at our January 2026 General Membership Meeting. These positions are:
Officers
President
Vice President
Secretary-Treasurer
Recording Secretary
Trustees (3 Seats)

President: Presides over all General Membership Meetings and Executive Board meetings and uses all powers and duties granted by the Local Bylaws to ensure the proper functioning and growth of Local 32.
Vice President: Presides over all meetings in the absence of the President, chairs all standing subcommittees of the local, and serves as the Chairperson of the Trustees.
Secretary-Treasurer: Keeps an accounting of all finances of Local 32 and makes regular reports to the International Union among other duties.
Recording Secretary: Keep the minutes of all meetings and ensures that copies of all collective bargaining agreements are available at the Local office and to the International Union.
Trustees: At least quarterly shall perform an audit of the Local’s finances alongside the Secretary-Treasurer and Vice-President and prepare a report for the Executive Board and the membership.

The other seats on the Executive Board are made up of representatives from the largest workplaces at Local 32 (with more than 100 members) and are voted upon by the members at those shops:
Horizon Blue Cross-Blue Shield (1 seat)
New Jersey Judiciary (1 seat)
Newark Board of Education (1 seat)
Canada Dry Delaware Valley (1 seat)
City of Orange (1 seat)
Monmouth University (1 seat)
Ocean County White Collar Clerical (1 seat)
There are also seats reserved for workplaces with fewer than 100 members:
2 seats from workplaces in Pennsylvania, Delaware or the eight southernmost counties of New Jersey.
1 seat from workplaces in the thirteen northernmost counties of New Jersey.

Nominations for each of the open seats shall be accepted at the January XX, 2026 General Membership Meeting. All nominations must be seconded by three active members from different bargaining units. Anyone nominated must accept within five days of their nomination. Any nominee must have been a member in continuous good standing for 12 months prior to the election.
